Things to note before undergoing this process:
Some jewelry will be hard to protect, these are items that include beads, stones, etc. Strong smelling chemicals (spray paint, and nail polish) will also be mentioned in this guide. If you are under the age of 18, please make sure to be under the supervision of a responsible adult. On to the tips:
Clean Your Jewelry
If you are doing this on old jewelry that still has its color, make sure to clean your jewelry with a small amount of soap and water. Place a drop of liquid soap on a paper towel, add water, and clean the jewelry. Making sure to remove any dirt particles or tarnishing.
Clear Spray Paint
For larger jewelry items, use clear spray paint to provide a protective layer over jewelry. Use a large piece of cardboard, lay flat on the ground, then place jewelry on the cardboard spraying each side one at a time. Allowing each side to dry before flipping jewelry over. Do this outside to prevent harmful fumes from circulating in the house. Let dry completely, and its ready to be worn!
Nail Polish
For smaller jewelry items, you can get into each crevice and special detail by using a clear nail polish to protect your jewelry. Like for larger items, get a piece of cardboard or plastic plate (disposable) to place jewelry on to dry. Paint on clear polish making sure to get a smooth layer on. Then paint a second coat to ensure jewelry is truly protected. Let dry and its ready to be worn!
